Introduction

Science can be very fun and interesting. In this experiment, you will fit a normal size egg through the mouth of a regular bottle.

Purpose

• To participate in science activities
• To reinforce curriculum in Science

Time

This activity will take about 30 minutes.

Materials

• An egg
• A glass bottle with a mouth no less than half the diameter of the egg.
• Three matches

Directions

• Hard boil the egg

o To do this, place your egg in the bottom of a pot. Fill the pot with lukewarm water. You only need enough water to cover the egg.
o Wait for the water to boil. Once the water is boiling, turn the heat off and let sit for about 10 more minutes.
o Then pour out most of the hot water and fill the pot with ice and cool water. After a few minutes, take the egg out and peel the shell.

• Now gather the glass bottle, the matches and the egg
• Light the three matches and drop them in the bottle.
• Put the egg on the mouth of the bottle, wide end down, before the matches go out.
• Wait and after the matches go out the egg will be pushed into the bottle.
