Planning a family vacation is both exciting and daunting. You want to make sure that everyone in the family is satisfied with the choices you’ve made. If you and your family decide to visit Houston, Texas, you’ll find that there is no end to the activities one can enjoy. Many of the activities we’ll list here are free of charge and perfect for families with children.

The Historical Society
You don’t have to be a history buff to enjoy the free information and activities that the Historical Society offers its’ visitors. Taking a gander around the vintage homes that the society has restored is a delight for the senses. You will feel as though you’re traveling back in time as you view these homes of old and it’s free of charge.

Discovery Green
The family that plays together stays together and there’s no better way to keep active than by visiting Discovery Green. Everything from Pilates to writers workshops are offered. You’ll also find that many movies are shown at the center as well and again this is a free option for Houston visitors.

The Houston Zoo
You and your family will pay a bit to get into the zoo, however, it’s well worth it to view the Asian elephant, rhinoceros, dromedary camels and orangutans. There’s a children’s zoo where your young ones can get up and personal with the animals. The children’s zoo also has a wonderful water playground that your kids will enjoy. The Houston Zoo also has an aviary and an aquarium. The information doesn’t stop now. Keep looking: Houston Zoo Director Rick Barongi Elected to Association of Zoos and Aquariums Board of Directors

Houston, Texas is the largest city in the state of Texas. In terms of its sheer size, it is the fourth largest city in the United States. The founding year for the city was 1836, and it was named after the reigning president of the republic, General Sam Houston. The original ownership of the land that Houston sits on was by two brothers from New York. These individuals were Augustus Allen and John Allen. They bought the 6,642 acres with the specific purpose of founding a city there.

Original incorporation papers were filed and accepted for the city on June 5, 1837. James Holman was the first mayor of the incorporated city. The year 1837 also became the year when Houston was named the seat of Harrisburg county, and named the capital of the Republic of Texas.

Houston continued to grow with the emergence of oil and the cultivating of cotton in the area. Railroads commenced their inward trail with most points convergin on the Houston metropolis. The rails dispersed cotton, oil and many other products around the state, and around the nation. As the years have passed Houston has continue to be an economic and now a cultural hub for the state.

Planning to relocate to Houston? Here are a few things you should know before you pack up your things and rent a truck:
Houston’s Hot: As in, really, really hot. Temperatures here can reach 110 degrees in the summer which means increased risk for heat stroke and heat related illnesses. Additionally, this means you’ll have to take extra care to protect your home and car from the elements, so consider the extra expenses with sealants and heat shields.
Houston’s Dangerous: Well, not all of Houston. But like any big city, Houston has its share of crime, so you’ll want to look into security methods in your area. For example, research the top home security system in houston to see if you can afford coverage or meet with your new neighbors about starting a neighborhood watch.
Houston’s Big: Really big! Houston’s size is both a good and a bad thing, so make sure to consider how much extra you’ll be spending on gas or on a car if you don’t have one already. Keep this in mind when you’re looking for homes in terms of your commute, as well.

When searching for the right home to fit your budget, you first want to find out what your budget is. This can easily by done by taking the time to fill out an application or finding an online lender that will allow you to submit all of your information for a pre approval. Once you have been pre approved for a certain amount of money, you will know what type of house you can afford. If you are using a Houston realtor or reality site to search for a home then you can put that amount or less into the search engine.

You never want to max out your budget because if something happens to you, you are going to have trouble paying your mortgage. Try shopping for less than the full amount that you are allowed to borrow. When you are looking at homes make sure that you take any updates that you will have to do into consideration. You also want to be able to put some money down, so that you have equity in the home if anything happens. Start shopping today after you get pre approved, and you should have no problems finding your new Dallas home.

When searching for a place to stay for a much-needed vacation with your family, you have a few different options. You could stay in a hotel room, rent a house or villa, or you could even purchase a home in which to spend vacation over and over again. Depending on your specific needs and preferences, you can choose the plan that is best for you and your family.

A hotel can prove convenient if you like to book things at the last minute, or if you enjoy staying close to attractions and activities. However, hotel rooms are expensive if you choose one with ample space and amenities. Rental houses and villas on the other hand are a good option, but usually need to be booked far in advance. They provide more space at a lower cost, and are the best option if you are willing to be more independent during your stay.

Finally, if you have the funds available and you plan to visit the same location for multiple vacations, you may want to consider purchasing a vacation home. You will then have a place to stay any time you want with no need to worry about booking in advance.

Choosing travel accommodations is a complicated process. If you weigh the pros and cons of each option, as well as your family’s personal preferences, you should be able to find the choice that is right for you.

December 19th at Tennessee TitansDecember 26 at Denver BroncosJanuary 2 at home Reliant Stadium

Sure, we know that two of the above three games are played away, but you know Houston has a lot of viewing opportunities via its many sports bars since this is, after all, such a sports-minded town.Do a search at Yelp to find one that’s located close to where you live or has a review that speaks to the type of ambiance you seek since sports bars can run the gamut.Regardless, check out a game so you can cheer the local team on next year with knowledge and excitement!

Relocation can be tough on any family; especially if you’re relocating to an area that does not offer a lot of choices when it comes to housing, education, or health care options.Fortunately, if your relocation is to Houston, Texas you’ll have a lot of choices when it comes to deciding on which neighborhood is best for you and your family since the region has any number of neighborhoods to choose from that offer a wide assortment of entertainment, educational, health care, or convenience factors. The Katy area has long been recognized as a leader in producing high school football champions and athletic talent at the collegiate level. If school sports are important to your family, Katy is definitely an area to consider. And if sports in combination with a fine education is of importance, then Katy’s school district with its four consecutive years of recognition as an educational leader is probably the option you seek.Sugar Land is another well-known Houston suburb and has gained even more popularity since its recent naming by Money magazine as one of its “Hot Towns to Live In.” Sugar Land (which originally emerged as the home base for Imperial Sugar) now boasts 2300 restaurants, 50 public libraries, and 221 bars within a 30-mile radius how’s that for an area that addresses dining, education, and entertainment needs all at once?Pearland is located a mere 15 minutes from central Houston and is considered by many as one of the area’s most desirable housing options for new residents since it offers one of the shortest commute times to downtown as well as experiencing one of the fastest growth spurts of Houston’s outlying areas. These three options, as well as the area’s many others, will surely help lessen the hassle associated with relocation.
